So here goes, this is my shot at becoming a real blogger. Someone who has the time to sit down as often as they can and express my opinion upon whoever reads these biased, opinionated, rants. First a quick background on who I am. I am a 32 year old police officer with a wife, two kids and a third on the way. There thats me know onto my first opinion. Currently this nation has just seen its first government shut down in many many years and while I did not vote for the current President and his administration I found myself on their side of the debate to keep the government open. Not one of those senators or representatives lost money or had to worry about food, utilities or shelter during the shutdown. Those republicans decided that it was worth such a fight to shut the government down because Obamacare was such a disaster and a train wreck being served up to the American people. My question would be this...when Obamacare was passed it was under complete Democratic control of all the branches of the government. So here was an idea for you republicans, instead of shutting the government down and hurting thousands if not millions of people, why didn't you just let Obamacare go online and sit back and watch this terrible piece of legislation go into effect. Then when the next set of elections happened you could take advantage of all the negative aspects that are and have been arising from Obamacare.
The next issue on the heels of the government shutdown was do we raise the debt ceiling? Basically we don't have a choice, we have to raise the ceiling because the consequences are to negative at this time to not raise it. However, when we choose to raise the debt ceiling shouldn't someone with any type of intelligence look at our raising the debt ceiling to 16,400,000,000,000 as an act of incompetence not only on our current adminstration but of all those that have come and gone before us. When do we take a carving knife to our spending and departments that aren't needed. Departments that aren't needed because the States themselves have the ability to regulate between themselves. This is what our founding fathers wanted and spoke on. The Federal Government should worry about defense and other countries. Let the inner workings of our country up to the States. Either we reign in our spending on our own or eventually this ride WILL come to an end on its own. Its simply math, you cannot continue to spend more then take in and expect to survive.
I have voted Republican for my whole 14 years of voting life, HOWEVER this next election I will be voting against all the incumbents for shutting the government down and not paying me for 25 days!! I have no faith in either side, in my opinion they have no ones best interest except for themselves. WHY would a congress pass a law that mandates people to do something but then exempt themselves from said law? That doesn't make sense!! Sounds like communism to me...and it goes for both sides of the aisle. So what do I do as an American from a rural town in southern Indiana? Vote, and thats about it. I will go to work, I will raise my children to the best of my ability teaching them the ways of the Lord, and I will love my wife until the day I die. I will continue to live, continue to enjoy the greatest nation that God has placed on this earth until it is gone. I will live, I will love and I will laugh!!! I will leave this world better then I found it, and I will change my world around me for the better. This is what I can do, you can do it as well. Until next time my friends have a great day!!!
